Magic in the Mundane

Magical thinking refers to the belief that unrelated events are connected in a way that defies logic or scientific reasoning. It often involves giving meaning or influence to thoughts, actions, or objects that have no factual link to the outcome.

For me, it feels like living in your own movie which is running alongside reality.

The subway shows up right as you step onto the platform, and suddenly you’re the main character in this perfectly choreographed day.

Or the bakery throws in an extra cookie, and you’re convinced it’s because the universe is acknowledging you in some cosmic way.

This rug captures that swirling mix of reality and fantasy - where every coincidence could be a sign, and every random moment might be setting up something extraordinary.

The multiple eyes represent all these different realities that can be seen simultaneously - the normal world and these possible ones running alongside it. They stare out in different directions, watching both what is and what could be.

The swirling forms around them show how these realities blend and flow into each other, creating this space where magical thinking turns everyday life into something more - something full of hidden meaning and possibility.

I sometimes will build these elaborate scenarios in my head about how situations will play out. Kind of like daydreaming, but feeling with more intent that there’s these invisible threads connecting everything. It’s like being the director of your own universe, where everything could have a hidden meaning or be leading to something spectacular.

It usually borders on finding patterns where there aren’t any. But this isn’t about control - it’s about seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary and believing in the wonder of possibility.

It’s creating these parallel narratives where even the most mundane moments hold the potential for magic.
